Question: What's been the most enjoyable part about
working on the show?
Terry Farrell: Hmmm. Not waking up at 4am. Not having to wear a uniform. Or a wig.
Getting to watch people laugh, I guess. It's fun to be the other actors' audience, too. We
watch each other's scenes and laugh. You're tired, so you feel good that you've laughed
all day long.

Welcome Terry Farrell to Entertainment Asylum
and AOL Live! As this interview ends, your show starts on CBS. You play Regina from the
coffee shop.
Terry Farrell: My dad died and I inherited it. I'm bound to the diner cause I can't do
anything else right now. I'm bound there with Ted Danson.
Question: What was it that made you want to get into show business?
Terry Farrell: Wow...I don't know. I guess I didn't have to go to college. That's a
terrible reason. That's the irony of it.
OnlineHost: You were a model?
Terry Farrell: Yeah, I moved to NYC when I was 17. I started taking acting classes that
summer. That was overwhelming. I was too young to hate my parents at that point... I was
so happy to be out on mine own. I didn't hate them until I was in my 20's. Now that I'm in
my 30's I hate having put them through that.
Question: I've seen Becker and I love it. What attracted you to the role?
Terry Farrell: #1 was because of Ted Danson. I thought if I could just read with him at
the audition it meant I had worked with him.
Question: What is it like working with Ted Danson?
Terry Farrell: Well... he has lots of notes for me on a regular basis. As long as it makes
me better I thank Ted for that! I'm getting better! He's great, he's fun... he's a great
leader cause he makes you feel like every part is important. He doesn't come off like he's
the lead in the sense that everything's about him. He's very respectful of everyone.
Question: What was the hardest part about jumping from one show to another?
Terry Farrell: The medium's so completely different. You're concentrating on your
character so much more when you do an hour. When doing a half-hour, you focus on the
audience more. They change your lines more with a half-hour. I'd say it's more the medium
that's the challenge.
OnlineHost: Do you prefer one medium?
Terry Farrell: "Deep Space Nine" they would rewrite, too with all the
techno-babble. I guess cause it's a comedy, it's so much fun to work on... it's an egoless
set, so it's more of a positive environment.
OnlineHost: What is it like working in front of an audience?
Terry Farrell: It's kinda great with the audience! There's an excitement... an excitement
when you get a laugh, you know you're on the right track. If you don't get the laugh, you
feel like you've done bad. Like you've fallen in a hole. Some audiences will laugh over
and over again, others only laugh once.
Question: Will you do any special appearing on any other Star Trek TV Shows, or movies?
Terry Farrell: I haven't been approached, Spock came back :)
Question: What's been the most enjoyable part about working on the show?
Terry Farrell: Hmmm. Not waking up at 4am. Not having to wear a uniform. Or a wig. Getting
to watch people laugh, I guess. It's fun to be the other actors' audience, too. We watch
each other's scenes and laugh. You're tired, so you feel good that you've laughed all day
long.
Question: Does any one from Cheers hang out on the set?
Terry Farrell: Ooh, not yet, not yet.
OnlineHost: Were you a big fan of the show?
Terry Farrell: I like Kirstie Alley a lot... she hasn't stopped by yet. It would be cool
to see John Ratzenberger stop by. That would be really cool!
Question: What of all your many roles has been your favorite?
Terry Farrell: Wow! Right now it's Reggie... I'm figuring her out still, so I don't know
her altogether yet. Probably yet to come, I'd say. They haven't figured out what to do
with my character just yet. They said it was that way with Kirstie's character on
"Cheers."
OnlineHost: What are you doing on tonight's episode?
Terry Farrell: Honestly, I couldn't remember "Star Trek" episodes better than
these... I don't remember what I did, isn't that crazy? I remember Jake's giving me a
massage at some point.
Question: What is a day in the life of Terry Farrell?
Terry Farrell: Wow! I don't want to sound that predictable. I feed my dogs first, in the
bathroom. They're big dogs. Take a shower, water my plants. Read my lines, watch
"Good Morning America..." Sorry CBS :) Go to work, get home, feed my dogs.
Question: Did the producers of DS9 allow Worf and Jadzia to get married because they knew
you were leaving?(I know characters usually don't get married - the sexual tension keeps
audiences coming back.)
Terry Farrell: Well on that note, I hope that John and Reggie have a lot of sexual tension
yet to come. No, they didn't believe I was leaving. That's why when I died it was a small
deal.
Question: Terry, there seemed to be a lot of comic relief in ds9, did you have an
opportunity to give imput into the writing?
Terry Farrell: More just with the words in the beginning. Less sarcasm... I didn't know
how to do it without sarcasm being 350 years old. Basically I tried to work it in... when
it started to work, they wanted more of it. Much more now in "Becker" This
summer I was into herbs and I suggested that that be worked into the show somehow. It's
kinda fun to work things like that into a character you're doing.
OnlineHost: Do you go online?
Terry Farrell: I do, occasionally.
Question: What has been the hardest obstacle for you to overcome as an actress?
Terry Farrell: Me. I'm the hardest obstacle. My own fears... memorizing the lines, doing
things I don't feel comfortable with. At first it was tough to kiss Michael Dorn. But
these things do help you grow as an actor and a person. We question who we are. I was
worried about kissing a woman onscreen. I thought, "What if I really don't like
it?" But these things help you to find out who you are and to get you to like
yourself.
Question: Are there any types of roles you won't play?
Terry Farrell: I don't see myself playing a lap dancer real soon. I'm at that age where if
I don't do it soon, I won't do it. That was the first thing off the top of my head! I
wouldn't want to play someone who is small-minded, or someone who would hurt children or
animals. I recently saw the movie where a man abused children in North Carolina... I
thought, how brave of the actors to portray that! I don't know that I could do that.
BASTARD OUT OF CAROLINA was the movie
Question: Do you have any memorable experiences from working on the movie BACK TO SCHOOL?
Terry Farrell: Yeah, we went over a month because Rodney would get on the phone with
Harold Ramos and rewrite lines. I thought that was so cool! We would all get together in
the trailer and just talk about rewriting lines. It was fun! Once Rodney came to my
trailer in a robe and slippers. He knocked on my door and dropped his wig... he said
"Hair today, gone tomorrow." I said, "I don't think that's very
funny." He said, "I'll change it then." It was kinda goofy. :) Once I was
flying with him, and he had his own compartment. He saved me from someone who was bugging
me. Wasn't that sweet?
Question: Terry was it hard for you to make the transition from a Model to an actress?
Terry Farrell: I thought I had to quit to be taken seriously as an actress. The crazy
thing was, I ended up playing a model on "Paper Dolls." I shut that door behind
me and it wasn't very wise, which was unfortunate. It wasn't as big a deal as it was
presented to me. You have to look at things as opportunities rather than obstacles.
Question: Do you consider yourself as a sex symbol?
Terry Farrell: Wow... that would mean I'm a narcissist. Not to me... but thanks for the
question!
Question: Did you really date Ralph from the Howard Stern show?
Terry Farrell: Yes, I really went out with Ralph. We're friends... It's hard to date
someone in New Jersey when you're in LA. At 4am in NY, Babba Booey called me. I was
half-asleep; he asked me if I could do an interview. I said, sure, could you call back in
20 minutes? I had no one to call for advice at 4 in the morning. So I did it! With Howard,
you just have to be yourself. I didn't do anything embarrassing, I just went out with
Ralph. Got some free press out of it.
Question: If Becker continues on with another season you think we'll see a romance blossom
between you and Ted?
Terry Farrell: Yes, but I think we'll back into each other. I think we'll butt heads for a
while. They both have emotional walls, now keeping them out of relationships.
Question: Hi Terry, what do you have planned for 1999?
Terry Farrell: Hmmm.... Prince was gonna party till it's 1999. I thought when that song
came out I'd never see 1999. Well, God willing, the second season of "Becker."
OnlineHost: Thank you so much!
Terry Farrell: Thank you!
